Which Aquarium Should I Choose? One thing you will quickly notice is the large diversity of fish tanks available these days. From small goldfish bowls to immense tanks eight feet in length, sometimes longer! It is always better to buy a high quality fish tank, even if this means spending more money. Some companies will make tanks to your own specifications but this will be more expensive than buying a ready made one. Fish, like people sometimes need there space. You might not mind a trip to busy supermarket, but would you like to live in one? The more space you can provide for your fish the better so aim for the largest tank you can manage to find room for. I’d recommend a straight forward rectangular aquarium, at least three feet in length or if necessary a right angled tank that will fit neatly into the corner of the room. It is true that a common goldfish can be kept in a goldfish bowl without a filter but I wouldn’t want to give a creature such a poor quality of life. Would you keep a dog in a box? Another advantage of a larger aquarium is that you may keep more fish than you could in a smaller tank. Also you are giving your fish the chance to grow to their natural sizes. The growth of a fish will be stunted by placing it in a small aquarium. | | |
